The Compass Center Appoints Sydney Bartunek as New Chief Development and Communications Officer

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Compass Center, a leading organization providing prevention education, crisis intervention and counseling services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sydney Bartunek as its new Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO), effective July 22.

Sydney Bartunek brings a wealth of experience in strategic communications, program development, community engagement, and donor relations to The Compass Center. Her background includes founding Move To Heal South Dakota, directing communications at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, leading marketing efforts at Sanford Health Marketing, Lawrence & Schiller, USD School of Education, & USA Today Network, and most recently managing the Youth Voices in Prevention (VIP) Program at The Compass Center.

Sydney’s appointment comes at a crucial time as The Compass Center prepares for its 50th anniversary in 2025. Her expertise will be instrumental in shaping the organization’s future, enhancing its prevention-focused initiatives, and expanding its reach in the community.

The Compass Center will be announcing transition plans for the Youth Voices in Prevention (VIP) Program in the coming weeks, recognizing its vital role as an emerging prevention education program for middle and high school youth in the Sioux Falls metro area that launched at the beginning of 2024.
